LAB University of Applied Sciences

LAB University of Applied Sciences is a higher education institution that specialises in innovation, business, and various industries. LAB operates in the Finnish cities of Lahti and Lappeenranta, and also on an online campus. It offers education in the five fields of Business, Design, fine arts and visual communication, Health care and social services, Technology, and Tourism and hospitality. LAB's strengths are in circular economy, design, innovations, and health. LAB provides education to 9800 students and employs 550 teachers and RDI experts, which makes it the sixth largest university of applied sciences in Finland. LAB represents the vision and the operating culture of a new university of applied sciences that focuses on supporting responsible and regenerative growth through intangible value creation, multipurpose materials, and human well-being. LAB has an active approach where students and experts create growth in collaboration with business enterprises. In 2019, Lahti University of Applied Sciences and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences merged and established a new institution; LAB University of Applied Sciences. LAB started its operations on 1 January 2020 and together with Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT it forms LUT Universities, an international and experimental educational community.
